Stone : Druzy Quartz
The
druzys are titanium coated. This gives them a play of
color from emerald green to magenta to violet blue and
a titanium color. I'll try to add better pictures in
the near future. Not suitable for rings but great for
earrings & pendants. All are cut and polished to
perfection in my own cutting shop
Another Stunning Titanium Quartz Druzy center stone,
this one features a heart shapped druzy quartz that
has been titanium coated in a special process that
creates a rainbow of color generating from the stone's
surface. This beautiful pendant also features an oval
iolite gem above the center stone, and a pear shaped
faceted tanzanite gemstone above the iolite.
The sparkle of Druzy Quartz creates a compelling
backdrop for this interesting formation of Dolomite
and Sphalerite from the Elmwood Mine in Tennessee. Two
"scoops" of Dolomite (calcium magnesium carbonate)
form the centerpiece, and a sprinkle of rusty-brown,
metallic Sphalerite (zinc iron sulfide) crystals
pepper the sides (including the back, shown in
insert). Difficult to identify because of its wide
variation in luster, color and habit, Sphalerite is
Greek for "treacherous rock" -- named so by miners,
who had trouble distinguishing it from the more
valuable minerals they were seeking.
This specimen measures approximately 6½" by 5" by 4½",
and has a flat base for easy display. It would make
quite an interesting conversation piece when used in
decorating or Feng Shui, or a great gift for your
